Job description

Key Responsibilities

Owning all product development efforts across a portfolio of internal and external products, platforms and tools; ranging from creation and capturing of operational performance management platforms, to powering advanced spatial data and point cloud modelling. 

S(he) will drive the vision and roadmap of an emerging product set, bringing together the market potential of commercial spatial data into cohesive, customer-centric platforms and solutions. 

In addition to providing strategic vision, this person will own the day to day activities of the product function. They will manage a team of 5 product managers to drive the SPEC and STAK business units and coordinate efforts effectively with the other important stakeholders in sales, engineering and operations organizations. S(he) will champion a shared language and promote collaboration to ensure that product definition, engineering, content development, pricing and go to market come together seamlessly throughout the product life cycle. In addition to managing internal teams, they will be the external “face” to the market and participate in customer facing activities such as customer visits, speaking engagements, etc., while deepening Pupil’s understanding of customer requirements, workflows and buying criteria. This person will use customer feedback and insights to guide the work of his/her team with a constant focus on customer success. S(he) will define and evolve the product strategy based on insightful analysis of customer needs and market opportunities.

The Role

The Pupil Head of Product will be an experienced manager with a successful track record of accountability for innovative product organizations. 

S(he) will be a strong technical product manager with a passion for emerging technologies and familiarity with how these technologies can impact an emerging product set.  The Head of Product will bring a consultative approach to their work. An “influencer” s(he) will be adept at working in a matrixed organization to get things done. This person will be skilled at building proactive relationships with Sales, Product Marketing, and Engineering to drive the product roadmap with a laser focus on growing the business. This individual will be customer focused and focus their work with customer success in mind. S(he) must be adept at understanding the voice of the customer and instilling customer focus in the day to day work of their team.

This person will be a successful mentor and manager of teams and individuals. This manager will have the capability to interact with both technical and business groups and to speak in a language that both can understand. Driving best in class product marketing and strategic go to market plans will also be a high level of importance. 

Most importantly, this manager must pair their skill set with a passion for emerging technology, digital and being a part of transforming a business.

Person Specification

● BS/BA degree or equivalent experience

● 8+ years of increasing responsibility in product management

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills

● A sense of ownership and ability to drive issues to closure

● Ability to translate between deeply technical teams and commercial stakeholders

● Critical thinking skills and ability to concisely represent a point of view

● Strong team player mindset

● Desire to work in a fast-paced and fluid entrepreneurial environment
